In 2011, Coca-Cola and NBC/Universal collaborated to create an augmented-reality video game called "Cowboys and Aliens: Round Up".

The application was a very early example of combining Augmented Reality (showing visuals overlayed on top of the real world through the camera of a mobile device using technology from Total Immersion. The game also used image recognition technology from Qualcomm
